Rick Exner
Rick is the PFI/ISU Extension Farming Systems Coordinator. Whew, what does that mean? The PFI/ISU part refers to the partnership between the university and PFI, a relationship that began formally in 1988. In 1989 Rick was hired to help farmers do their own research. Thirteen years and some 600 replicated trials later, the partnership has shown that farmers can and do answer many of their own questions about farming practices. It has also helped many ISU agricultural scientists to carry out their own research in collaboration with producers. Since more staff came on the scene, Rick doesnt worry nearly as much about the newsletter, the winter annual meeting, and membership issues. However, he still tries to be helpful with computer-related disasters that crop up. (Dont tell anyone, but he causes most of them himself.) He is also the PFI webmaster.
