Susan Zacharakis-Jutz runs the family goat dairy near Solon, Iowa, so
she was drawn to these dairy goats at the Institute for Pasture and
Fodder Research. In this low-tech confinement unit, the goats get
lots of personal attention and feeding from technician Juan José
Suárez. Perhaps because they do
not graze, their parasite problems are minimal.
The contrast: Oxen agriculture next to a
Spain-Cuba partnership in agricultural development.
