Practical Farmers of
Iowa (PFI) is a twenty-year-old non-profit membership organization that works
to foster “profitable, ecologically sound, and community-supporting
approaches to agriculture.”
Information sharing is at the core of PFI, and on-farm research plays
an important role. In collaboration
with Iowa State University, PFI farmers have carried out hundreds of on-farm
research trials to answer the questions they confront about production,
marketing, and the environmental effects of farming.
